Social Content Intern Job at FARRYNHEIGHT, New York, NY

  • New York, NY

Job Description

Who We Are: Farrynheight: a world-class team of creatives, strategists, and marketers. Founded by award-winning brand architect Farryn Weiner, we blur the lines between an in-house marketing team and a creative agency, taking a human-first approach to raising brands and operationalizing them. Just ask our clients: Walmart, New Balance, Spotify, Rent the Runway, Parsley Health, Bandier, W Hotels, Resort Pass, Planta, and more.

The Role: As a Social Content Intern at Gen F, Farrynheight’s social content studio, you will support the Producer and content team in the development, capture, and execution of social-first content across a range of clients and platforms. Leaning heavily into production support, this role is a dynamic mix of on-the-ground content capture, media organization, and creative asset creation. You will work closely with our production and creative leads, assisting on location and remotely to bring fast-moving, culturally relevant social content to life. Please note that this role operates on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule, with working hours that may vary depending on project requirements and client needs.

This is a temporary, part-time internship based in New York City. The expected hourly rate is $18 per hour, for up to 25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Location & Remote Content Capture: Support content capture at events, activations, and shoots, working alongside the Producer to capture engaging social-first footage both on location and remotely.
  • Filming & Technical Execution: Shoot using iPhones, smartphones, and lightweight production equipment (including gimbals, tripods, and external microphones), maintaining a strong understanding of framing, lighting, and platform-native best practices for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube.
  • Production Support: Assist with pre-production planning (shot lists, creative briefs, and reference gathering), on-set execution, and post-production workflows (organizing raw footage, preparing selects, and managing file structures).
  • Video Editing & Motion Support: Edit lo-fi and hi-fi footage into engaging, platform-native content with a strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and narrative structure from hook through payoff; create simple motion graphics and static design assets (covers, thumbnails, and overlays).
  • Trend Research & Cultural Insights: Contribute fresh ideas for social content, monitor social trends and platform updates, and pull cultural references to inform ongoing and campaign-based content.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Partner with social media managers and creative leads to ensure content aligns with project objectives, platform best practices, and brand guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Location : Must reside in the New York City metropolitan area for live content capture.
  • Schedule Flexibility : Ability to work a Wednesday through Sunday schedule, with flexibility to adjust hours based on active project demands and client shoots.
  • Education: Currently pursuing or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in Film/Video Production, Graphic Design, Communications, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience: Passion for social media and content creation, with prior internship or hands-on experience in video production, editing, or digital content creation within an agency or fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop) and mobile editing apps (e.g., CapCut).
  • Visual & Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of lighting, framing, and sound capture for mobile and camera setups, with a strong eye for visual storytelling.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, "can-do" attitude toward feedback, fast-paced workflows, and collaboration.
